Well, here is the finished NADAC Champs raffle dog for 2011. Champs happens to start tomorrow. I’ll be interested to see who wins it this year. Here’s a bunch of photos for you to look at.

Check out some images with the head fully attached here. It seems to have finally balanced out with the addition of beads and junk to the legs. Yay! I will be finished when I add a few more details (teeth, tongue, maybe a few feathers).

Behind a Head

I’m so behind posting here. Well, I actually got the head sculpted, baked and painted. I was stuck on this for so long it was ridiculous.

It is currently attached to the body and sitting on my desk waiting for ears and neck fur. The head ended up quite heavy, so I had to add some extra weight to the rear end to balance it out. It still isn’t totally stable, so I think I need to mess with it some more.

I managed to finish the purple dog last week in time for the trial. I was ‘rushing’ to finish, so I don’t have any ‘sewing on the fur/painting the head’ progress photos. I offered it as a worker raffle item, with the option to pay a dollar for a ticket that would be donated to NADAC Rescue. Nobody bought any tickets, but there were a TON in the bag. Thanks to everyone that volunteered!

Well, I finally cut the shaggy purple fur out. I’ve been avoiding this for a couple days, haha. Cutting out the fur and sewing it on is probably my least favorite part (other than getting poked by wire while putting the body together or sticking beads on the legs). I got this piece pretty much all sewn on today.

It got a tail!!! I also made a base for the head, but I don’t have any beads big enough for eyes. I’m gonna have to either look around the house some more or go buy some.

Oooh, Progress

Because I’m kind of lazy and don’t have much to stay, I’m just going to post pictures from the last couple days (you would see them earlier if you follow my tumblr.) There’s a couple sketches that I did to mess with coat pattern. I’m still not sure, which is why tonight ended with the ‘template’ cut out. Decisions, decisions.

Project(s) Started!

So, I started both my projects today. I had a mini Doctor Who marathon and got through about half of Series 5. I’m kind of in a rewatch of all the series, but at various points in each one. Last night I was watching Series 4. XD (I’m not obsessed right now or anything. Still.) Enough of that.

I started the mini dog first. Mostly because I actually started that yesterday because I could. I made the armature last night. I couldn’t do much on the big one last night because there was sticky residue on on the thick wire (which I finally got). It took me a long time to get that off today. Ugh. Yeah, so I didn’t do much on that one. I’m still not sure what pose I want and I think the wire I got is a little too thick for me to mess with too much. I want to do this one bigger, but the legs seem to long right now. I just need to make a body to fit them. That might keep me from doing it too small.

Been a Little While

It’s been a little while since my last post here. Anyway….

1) My brown dog sculpture went to the Doggie Street Festival on Sunday. It a silent auction and my sculpture did not get bid on by the public. The lady that organized the thing actually ended up buying at is going to give it to a friend. She really liked it though and told me multiple times. That’s cool. I also ‘won’ the prize drawing. We were supposed to get $200 cash, but they Festival didn’t make enough money so I get ‘cool stuff.’ I don’t really mind since I just wanted the ‘publicity.’ It went to a good cause (dog adoption) so that’s good enough for me.

2) Random, but Blue and I did the Purina Dog Challenge back in June where she placed 3rd. It aired Sunday and people actually caught it, haha. Two people in my graphic design class recognized me on it. So cool.

3) I will hopefully be starting my purple NADAC Champs dog sculpture soon. I still need to buy some heavy wire for in the legs. I am going to try to keep up on the progress for that. Ooh, I should get that wire in the next day or so because I have a week before class starts. I’m also going to try to make something else while I’m working on this.

I think that’s it for now.

So that new creature I started a few weeks ago, well, I finished it. Like a week ago. I’m so lazy with getting photos up here. I really like how he turned out (and that fur on the neck). I really want to play some more with the smaller scale critters. I have a few established creatures/characters that I would like to try, but I need to buy some fur. There’s also some additional photos I took of Tam/Nam/Critter.

Ahh, Comic Con is in a week!!! Then the next weekend my brown dog goes to the Doggie Street Festival. Fun stuff coming up.
